VOLUME National Reading Symposium to return for 2026

Mark your calendars: the National Reading Symposium, VOLUME, will return in October this year.

In 2023, the inaugural VOLUME symposium welcomed over a thousand attendees for a day of talks and ideas – bringing together the publishing, libraries, education, and social change sectors to with a common goal: building a reading nation.

In 2026, VOLUME is expanding to two days:

Wednesday 21 October
VOLUME: Building a Reading Nation

Thursday 22 October
VOLUME: Young Readers in Focus

Day one will take a whole-of-industry approach to growing national reading rates, sharing learnings and insights from the books industry, social change, behavioural science, and international reading programs.

Day two will hone in on youth reading and literacy, and ways everyone can support the reading journey from early years and family reading through to young adults.

We invite our wide community to mark their calendars and join us for these two, free days of conversation, inspiration and action around reading.

VOLUME is free to attend and will be held online. Registration link coming soon.

VOLUME is supported by Writing Australia.
