The Australia Reads Author and Illustrator Directory is a free, online resource for event bookers to bring Australian authors and illustrators into their schools, libraries, local festivals and community spaces.
Meeting an author or an illustrator can be a transformative experience, and we want to see more of these opportunities made available to audiences across Australia.
Authors and illustrators listed in the Directory will be searchable by location, age group they can deliver events to, event type, topic and more, making it easier for event organisers to find the right speaker for their event.
Event organisers will then be directed to contact the author directly or to make a booking via their preferred speaker’s agent or publicist.

The Directory is open to authors and illustrators who are Australian citizens and/or are currently residing in Australia, who have had a book traditionally published in Australia in the last 5 years. The Directory showcases authors and illustrators of adult fiction, non-fiction, poetry, graphic novels, young adult and children’s books. It is not open to authors of purely academic work.
We’re currently calling on our community of talented authors and illustrators to send us your details so we can showcase you in our Directory. Authors and illustrators interested in signing up must read and agree to our Terms and Conditions and Code of Conduct, and fill out the application form.
The Australia Reads Author and Illustrator Directory has been designed in response to recommendations in the Live Literature research report produced with the University of Melbourne, which examined ways to support communities hosting author events.
