Rebecca Timmis is an author-illustrator from the Gold Coast. She is also a web and game developer and the recipient of multiple awards across a range of creative fields, as well as a mother of three.
She is the creator of two successful junior fiction series: MerTales (2021-2022, Albert Street Books), a series about four mermaids with magical powers, and Jawsome (2023-2024, Albert Street Books), an off-the-wall hybrid graphic novel series about four shark kids who are secret members of an internationally famous rock band. The MerTales series has since been released as a best-selling boxset available exclusively through Big W, with a Jawsome boxset to be released in 2025.
As well as her two fiction series, Rebecca has illustrated two picture books and a middle grade novel written by other authors for publishers Ford St and Larrikin House.
In 2023, Rebecca won the Golden Taco in the Laugh Out Loud category for Jawsome. Her illustrations have been highly-commended in the CYA Conference and she has won multiple awards for her short science-fiction stories.
