Michelle Scott Tucker is the author of Elizabeth Macarthur (Text Publishing 2018) – a biography of the Anglo-Australian colonist who established the Australian wool industry (even though her husband received all the credit).
Michelle is also the co-writer, with Torres Strait Islander actor, film producer and SBS Board Member Aaron Fa’Aoso, of Aaron’s groundbreaking memoir So Far, So Good (Pantera 2022).
Michelle’s forthcoming publications include:
- a novel for middle-grade readers, co-written with Aaron Fa’Aoso (Spirit of the Crocodile, Allen & Unwin, 2025); and
- a biography of Australian feminist icon Louisa Lawson (Text, 2027).
Michelle is renowned as an entertaining and informative speaker. She regularly speaks at libraries and to community groups about Elizabeth Macarthur and Louisa Lawson.
Elizabeth Macarthur was shortlisted for the 2019 NSW State Library Ashurst Business Literature Prize and the 2019 CHASS Australia Book Prize. Michelle was awarded a position as a 2024 Visiting Scholar at the State Library of NSW, to undertake research for her Louisa Lawson biography.
Michelle lives and writes in the Macedon Ranges, on the unceded lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung people.
