A former zoologist and zookeeper, Julie has been writing fiction and non-fiction books about the natural world for over two decades. Her 22 children’s books have been published by Trade and Educational publishers in Australia and internationally. Several have been recognised for awards, and translated into foreign languages. Her most recent books include Dog Beach (NLA, 2024) and Cheer Up, Blobfish! (Affirm, 2024). Julie is also an experienced presenter at schools and libraries, and volunteers for Ardoch and Books in Homes Australia. She lives in Melbourne with her family and rescue dog, Banjo.
