Clare Yang
Illustrator of Children’s Fiction

Clare Yang is a Sydney-based children’s book illustrator and art educator, originally from China. Before moving to Australia, she worked as an editor for eight years, an experience that continues to shape her interest in how words and images work together. She illustrated Snow Day in Australia (Loose Parts Press, 2026) and My Buddy and Me by Pip Harry, forthcoming from Hachette Australia. Her work combines expressive characters, close observation of everyday life and nature, and layered visual storytelling. Clare works across digital and traditional media, including watercolour, gouache, ink and charcoal. She also teaches art to children aged five to fourteen and offers illustration workshops and primary school visits that encourage children to observe, imagine and tell stories through pictures.
