Christopher wrote the critically acclaimed, multi published picture book Bear and Rat (published in the USA as Will We Always Hold Hands?), a loving tribute to his wife that Kirkus Reviews says is “simultaneously quietly soothing yet deeply empowering—a friendship tale for the ages”. His recent titles include the picture books Dragon Folding, Pollination, The Imagineer, New Year Surprise! and Old Fellow. Forthcoming picture books include Powerful Like A Dragon (Roaring Brook USA), Moon Festival (WPCKids, China) and Quoll (WalkerBooks).

This award-winning author of children’s picture books, historical fiction and non-fiction, is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) International Advisory Council, an ambassador for Australia’s National Centre for Australian Children’s Literature (NCACL), holds a Master of Arts in Children’s Literature and established the international peer voted SCBWI Crystal Kite Awards.

Christopher has presented at conferences and festivals in Australia and overseas and has been working with kids of all ages for many years. A former primary school teacher and bookseller, he also established Taronga Zoo’s Zoomobile and worked in an underground science laboratory.

Christopher dwells in a Tardis-like inner-city Sydney terrace and is often heard to say that he has the best job in the world!
