Andrea Rowe is an award-winning children’s author.
Her picture book Jetty Jumping (published by Hardie Grant, illustrated by Hannah Sommerville) won the 2022 Children’s Book Council of Australia, Picture Book of the Year for Early childhood and the 2023 Australian Speech Pathology Book of the Year. Sunday Skating was its follow-up, released internationally, and the next book in the series is out in 2025.
Her Little World’s board book series saw In the Rockpools awarded a 2024 CBCA Notable Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood, which is followed by Amid the Sand Dunes
Her writing features in the Teacher, Teacher anthology with Affirm Press, and there’s more picture books on the way.
Andrea was a 2024 May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust Fellow, the winner of the 2020 Hal Porter Short Story Award, and 2024 Runner Up, Highly Commended for the 2022 Newcastle Short Story Award and the 2023 Mulga Bill Award winner.
A passionate advocate for contemporary Australian literature, Andrea is a respected children’s bookseller, founder of a regional regional writing award and writing association, as well as a mentor for several young writers, and grown ups looking to find their story skills too.
