Ali lives in Brisbane with her partner and three young sons. She has a background in Zoology and Animal Behaviour, but currently works as a cardiac genetic counsellor. She writes picture books, junior fiction, and short stories.
Her debut picture book, Ladybirds do not go to Daycare, came out in November 2023 with Hardie Grant and was a CBCA notable book in two categories. This was the first in a four-book series called Pre-school Problems. The second book in the series. Kittens do not care for Baths, was published in October 2024. The third and fourth books in the series will be published in November 2025.
In October 2024, her picture book, The Beginner’s Guide to Choosing the Perfect Pet, was published by Allen & Unwin.
In May 2023, her short story, The Loophole, was published on the Story Links website, after winning their short story competition. Another short story, Frog TV, will soon be published by the School Magazine.
