Andrea Rowe

Andrea Rowe is a best-selling, award-winning children’s picture book author. She is 2025 inaugural Public Libraries ambassador for Victoria, and a May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust Fellow.
Her picture book, Jetty Jumping (illustrated by Hannah Sommerville), was awarded the 2022 CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood and the 2023 Australian Speech Pathology Picture Book of the Year, with it’s follow-up Sunday Skating published internationally, and Castle Crashing completing the trio.
Andrea’s Little World’s early childhood series In the Rockpool and Amid the Sand Dunes (Hardie Grant) were both awarded the 2024 and 2025 CBCA Notable Picture Books of the Year – Early Childhood.
Her first non-fiction picture book, Dogs with Jobs connects kids who love animals, and facts with reading too. Her writing features in the Teacher, Teacher anthology with Affirm Press, and she has more books in production.
Andrea loves to write stories where characters explore the great outdoors, ponder big questions and move through tricky feelings, which inspire conversations amongst children, families and educators. She loves reading in cosy nooks, where she’s always surrounded by stacks of books.
A passionate advocate for contemporary Australian literature, Andrea is a past media writer, a respected children’s bookseller, founder of a regional regional writing award and writing association, as well as a mentor for several young writers, and grown ups looking to find their story skills too.
