Beverley McWilliams is an award-winning children’s author from South Australia with a passion for historical fiction. Beverley’s middle-grade novel Spies in the Sky won the ARA Historical Novel Prize 2024, was shortlisted for The Readings Prize and longlisted for the Booklinks Award for historical fiction. Beverley also published her middle-grade novel The Reindeer and the Submarine with Pantera Press in 2022. Beverley has published two picture books with MidnightSun Publishing: Born to Fly (2019) which was a CBCA notable book and Willow’s Gumboots (2024). Beverley’s upcoming picture book Cassowary Dad, published by CSIRO, is due for release in February.

In 2023, Beverley was awarded an Arts South Australia Project Grant to travel to rural Thailand as research for her next historical novel.

Beverley is joint regional coordinator of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (South Australia).

Beverley lives near the beach with her family and menagerie of pets who provide endless inspiration.
