Emma Styles writes contemporary West Australian crime about young women taking on the patriarchy. She lives in London but grew up in Perth on Whadjuk Country and gets back here as often as she can. She loves a road trip and once sat out a cyclone on the north west coast in a LandCruiser Troop Carrier.

No Country for Girls, is a gritty road trip thriller about two young women on the run in a dead man’s twin cab ute. A love letter to the West Australian outback, it won the 2020 Little, Brown Crime Fiction Award for an unpublished manuscript and featured in Val McDermid’s New Blood panel for outstanding debut authors at the 2022 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in the UK.
