“The whole world is geared to go faster and faster, and to value information over contemplation. Reading has to be among the most effective methods to get off the damn express train: you’re decoupled from the dopamine cycle of social media, withdrawn into yourself and into another plane of existence, and your brain is still working hard, conjuring images from the words you’re reading. It’s much more aligned with our natural evolutionary state than frantically scrolling through screens. When I see people reading books on public transport I want to hug them. But you can’t do that.”

I will read silently or aloud, I will read by myself or in a crowd. I will read a story that matters to me.”

Great! We’d love to keep you up to date with the latest news and events.
